wolf sketches by Rahona wolf sketches by Rahona
I need practice drawing wolves, especially given how much I have always liked them.

I know there are mistakes with the location of the nose and mouth on all of these, and I know i keep making them mispositioned. It is still a lot better than what I used to draw, and I learned a lot from doing this.

I apologize to the people whose stocks I used for not doing that great of a job.

Really great sketches. The eyes look really wonderful and the pose/proportions up top looks really great!

really good sketches...there are so few people who draw wolves right after nature, not in irreal colors like green, blue or pink...

Thank you. Yeah, a lot of people have been drawing stylized wolves recently, though there are some very good artists drawing realistic wolves. In particular a few comic artists come to mind.

Most of these "wolves" don´t even look like wolves.... I think fantasy wolves can also be beautiful, but only when they have correct wolf expressions and anatomy!
My favourite anime style wolves are these in Wolf´s Rain and Princess Mononoke, because they´re looking quite naturalistic...
but the style of art that impresses me mostly is realistic wildlife art!

I have never seen Wolf's Rain, but I like Princess Mononoke quite a bit.

I think there is a certain beauty you get when the proportions and musculature of a drawing are realistic. Working on a blog entry about that right now actually.
